How can we help?

Answers to the questions people ask most. Can't find yours? Email support@katkee.com.

Getting started

How do I create an account?

Download Katkee, open it and sign up with your email address. Where available, you can also sign up with your phone number or your Google account. Then choose a username (it's how people find you) and enter your date of birth.

How old do I need to be?

18 or older. Katkee is only for adults, so we ask for your date of birth when you sign up. It confirms your age and is never shown on your profile.

I forgot my password

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter the email you use for Katkee. We'll email you a 6-digit code to set a new password.

Stories and Highlights

How long does a Story last?

24 hours. To keep one on your profile for longer, add it to a Highlight. Highlights stay until you remove them.

Who can see my Stories?

If your account is public, anyone on Katkee. If it's private, only the followers you approve. Turn Private account on or off in Settings, under Privacy.

Who can see who viewed my Story?

Only you. Everyone can see how many people viewed a Story, but the list of viewers and your Story's Insights are yours alone.

How do I delete a Story?

Open the Story, tap More (the three dots), then Delete. It's removed everywhere, including from your Highlights, and can't be undone.

Your account

How do I change my name, username, bio or photo?

Go to your profile and tap Edit profile. Your new photo is used once you tap Save.

How do I change my password or sign-in methods?

Go to your profile, tap Settings, then Account and sign-in methods.

My account was restricted. Can I ask for a review?

Yes. On the sign-in screen, tap Account restricted? Request a review. If you can still sign in, go to Settings, then Account notices and appeals.

Verified accounts

What does the verified badge mean?

The badge next to a name means Katkee checked that the account really belongs to the person, brand or organisation it says it is, and that they are notable. It doesn't mean we endorse them, and it doesn't make their Stories reach more people. Verification is free, and every badge is approved by a person on our team.

Who can ask for verification?

You can apply if your email address is verified, your account is at least 30 days old, it has a profile photo and a bio, and it hasn't been restricted, suspended or had a report against it upheld in the last 90 days. You can have one request in review at a time. If a request isn't approved, you can apply again 30 days later.

How do I apply?

Go to your profile, tap Settings, then Request verification. Choose what you are (creator, public figure, brand or business, news or media, or government or organisation), enter your full name as it appears on your ID, add 1 to 5 links that show who you are (such as your website or news articles about you), and add a photo of a government-issued ID. We'll send you a notification when we've decided. You can withdraw a request while it's in review.

What happens to my ID photo?

Only the Katkee staff who review verification requests can see it, and every time they open it, it's recorded. It's never shown to anyone else, including you once it's sent. We delete it 30 days after we approve or deny your request, or after you withdraw it, and straight away if you delete your account. See the Privacy Policy.

How can I lose the badge?

If you change your username or display name, the badge is hidden until we check the new name, then shown again or removed. The badge is removed if your account is restricted or suspended, or if it no longer meets these rules; we'll tell you why. Names can't include check marks, so nobody can imitate the badge.

Privacy and safety

How do I block, mute or report someone?

On their profile, tap More (the three dots), then Block, Mute or Report. You can also report a Story from its More menu, and a comment or a message you received. Reports go to our moderation team. Blocking works both ways, straight away.

I think someone on Katkee is under 18

Report their account: on their profile, tap More (the three dots), then Report, then May be under 18. You can also write to our Grievance Officer at grievance@katkee.com. We delete accounts that belong to anyone under 18.

What is Nearby Stories?

An optional setting that shows you Stories from people near you and lets them discover your public Stories. It uses a city-sized area, never your exact location. Turn it on or off in Settings, under Privacy.

How do I choose which notifications I get?

Go to Settings, then Notifications. You can turn messages, likes, comments, follows and mentions on or off separately.

Deleting your account
